New regulations come into force on the 6th December
2018 whereby solicitors are required to provide published details of
residential conveyancing costs and probate fees. We will also be publishing
details of our costs in dealing with Lasting Powers of Attorney.
In addition, we are required to provide details of our staff, especially fee earners and their level of expertise and training as well as details of their supervisors.
We are also obliged to provide details of our complaints procedure. Members of the public will be aware or should be aware that we are regulated by the Solicitors Regulatory Authority (SRA) and the Legal Ombudsman, details of our complaints procedure are available to clients at the commencement of any work undertaken on their behalf within our terms of business letter.
As an overview, any client who cannot settle their complaint with the fee earner with conduct of their matter, should initially make a complaint in writing to one of the company directors and there will be an internal enquiry in respect of that complaint with a finding provided to the client at the earliest opportunity. Thereafter it is a matter for the client in certain circumstances whether to proceed to the next stage and involve the SRA or Legal Ombudsman.
